I wanted to let you know of a project I am a part of in the African country of Uganda. I have been involved in helping rescue women and children off the streets in Mbiko for over 15 years now. I have traveled there often and have people there that I consider friends and family.
The current project is called Ryan Foundation (named after my son Ryan Bradlee), and has been a vision I have held with my dear friend, Martin, for many years. Below is a picture of Martin and his wife, Winnie.
Here is a video of the home in Mbiko being built to house the women and children after they have been rescued off the streets:
This girl was taken from her school to get a job in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. Somehow she ended up on the street selling herself.
This is Evaline, who is 10 years old. She was taken from her grandparents to work as a bar attendent. The men at the bar began abusing her. Martin rescued her and Winnie has been providing care for her.
My heart breaks for anyone who is being violated and abused by another person or group. I am dismayed and disturbed that sexual slavery is an ever-present reality in this world that we live in.
I have for many years been funding programs to respond to this travesty. I have trained rescue workers in counseling and recovery programs to respond to this crisis.
I would like to ask you to join me. I don’t like to ask for help because I don’t want to appear needy or greedy. Nonetheless, this is a critical time, so please consider donating to the Uganda Fund on GoFundMe by clicking the link below.
My friends and family in Uganda would be grateful for anything you can provide.
Thank you!
